Disaster Recovery Plan
More Important Than Ever!
The
effects of the April 2nd storms
have demonstrated how unmerciful
Mother Nature can be, as she
stirred up winds causing
substantial structural damage to
One Indiana Square, a prominent
high-rise building located
downtown Indianapolis. The
companies displaced by this
unexpected event included
several law and accounting firms
that were left only to pick up
the pieces and scramble to
maintain their daily operations.
And all of a sudden for business
owners in the community, the
significance of establishing a
disaster recovery plan has
just now become very real
indeed. However, while Mother
Nature is essentially
unavoidable, the effects of such
events on your business
CAN be
minimized with the proper
precautions.
eGIX
now offers Disaster Recovery
solutions that allow your main
phone lines to be redirected to
another specified number, such
as a cell phone, voicemail box,
or even to your home should you
be forced to relocate during the
interim. This allows your
business to 'appear' to be
functioning as normal from a
customer's perspective. This
solution helps keep your
business's reputation and
credibility intact, providing
you the time to focus on the
bigger issues at hand, instead
of the fate of your business.
If nothing else, the recent
events have shown us it is
better to be safe than sorry!
With Disaster Recovery Solutions
starting at as low as $20 per
month, you have nothing to lose
– because we've got your
business covered!

Hunt For Easter Eggs
Year-Round
Even
though the Easter festivities have
come and gone, plenty of Easter Eggs
are left to be found if you know
where to look. And we don’t mean the
kind left behind by festive bunnies.
We’re talking about Virtual Easter
Eggs.
Virtual Easter Eggs are hidden
messages or features that can be
found in movies, books, CDs, DVDs or
computer programs and games. And
they have become a craze among
enthusiasts of all forms of
electronic media.
In some cases it’s a simple,
innocuous hidden message, a silly
animation or inside joke among
programmers. It can also be a
political statement by a programmer,
or an extra scene in a game.
Easter Egg in Microsoft
Word:
1) Open Microsoft Word.
2) Type =rand (200,99)
3) Press ENTER and wait three
seconds
What prompts programmers to hide
Virtual Easter Eggs? According to
wikipedia.com, “the underlying
motivation is probably to put an
individual, almost artistic touch on
an intellectual product.” In other
words, they’re just harmless fun.
Happy hunting!
Where can you go to
start hunting for Easter Eggs?

ASK
JEREMY...
Q. I use more than one
computer and I would like to be able
to access my email from all of them.
Is this possible?
— Iris, Indiana
A. Yes! eGIX has two ways for you to
access your email from any computer
including some wireless devices, the
only requirement is that the
computer has Internet access.
The
easiest way for you to access your
email inbox on a computer without
having to set up or install any
software is to visit our Webmail
login portal. Simply open a browser
(such as Internet Explorer) and type
this address
http://portal.egix.net into the
address bar. You will then be
directed to a login page that will
prompt you to enter in your email
address and password. Type in your
information and click the “login”
button. You will now have access to
your new email messages, the ability
to compose and send new messages, as
well as access other helpful
settings such as spam filtering,
email forwarding (or diversion) and
auto reply messages.
There is another way to access your
email called POP Access. POP, or
Post Office Protocol, allows you to
download messages from the eGIX mail
servers onto your computer so you
can access your mail with a program
like Microsoft Outlook Express,
Eudora, Incredimail or another mail
client. You will need to have some
type of mail client to access your
email using POP. Each programs set
up is a little different, but most
mail clients require the following
information, at the very minimum.
1. Your Name
2. Your Email Address
3. Your Incoming and Outgoing mail
server address
4. Account Name or User Name (Your
full email address, ie
Jeremy1@egix.net)
5. Your Password
If your email address ends in
@egix.net (i.e., Jeremy1@egix.net)
then your incoming and outgoing mail
server will be mail.egix.net.
If you are using another domain for
email such as @jorsm.com your mail
servers will be mail.jorsm.com. All
other domains are set up in a
similar fashion.
If you have any additional questions
on how to access your email, please
contact us at (888) 992-8008 Mon-Fri
9am-6pm EST. For Webmail Help you
can also consult our
online documentation for
assistance. |
