March Madness – Your Online Guide

As the regular basketball season draws to a close, the excitement of March Madness begins! The Division I NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament starts on March 16th, Selection Sunday, with the championship game scheduled at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, TX on April 5th.

Here are a few ways you can utilize the Internet to help make the most of this year's road to the Final Four:

  • Research the teams: There are many sports-related Web sites where you can read everything from team reports, daily RPI (Rating's Percentage Index) to insider's viewpoints on who will win. You can visit each team's branded Web page for scores, schedules, rankings and other valuable information.

  • Fill out an online bracket: Use the information you have gained from the season or your research to make your predictions on the tournament. There are many Web sites which have printable brackets, as well as free online contests where you can sign up and have the chance to win valuable prizes. You can even join a private or public group and see how well you fared against your neighbors, co-workers or others around the world.

  • Buy tickets: There are many online ticket brokers who sell tournament game tickets. Use the Internet to find the best deals on the games you want to attend, and even book hotel packages. You can also find ticket purchasing information on your favorite team's Web site.

  • Root for your favorites: Since many of the games are played at the same time, the Internet is a great place to keep up with all of the scores and highlights during the games. View live box scores, listen to live audio, read game recaps or even watch game highlight videos.

  • Interact with other fans: Online message boards are a great way to gauge reactions from other fans or even see which team's fans have the most support. You can get into a deep collegiate discussion on your favorite team's message boards or go to a division or national board and give your rivals a hard time.

Make this year's March Madness a great one. Let the Internet be your 6th man by taking advantage of all that the Internet has to offer. Recommended March Madness sites include:
