My Internet connection drops off sometimes. What can I do to help prevent this?
If you are connected to the Internet and a call comes in at the
same time, the call waiting feature on your phone line can cause your connection to
drop. You can prevent this by disabling the call waiting
feature. To disable call waiting, enter *70 before the
number you dial to access the Internet. Call waiting will
automatically be restored when you disconnect from the Internet.
Plug the phone line that your computer uses into your telephone and
dial the access number. Check for static or any other
unusual noises on the line.
Contact your phone company and have them do a line test.
Find out what type of modem your computer uses and download the
latest driver update. If you do not know what type of
modem you have, contact your computer manufacturer.
